Coupons, Habits, Plans...are they working out?

It's something that I have been working on for several months now.   Almost a challenge really.  I realized that I could actually make my life simpler.  I am housekeeping challenged.  But I started looking at my household the same way I used to look at my full-time military job.  I have to have discipline, a plan and then execute it to the fullest with all my might.  Here's some of the progress...

Coupons...Goal: To save on my monthly grocery bill...I'm afraid to post what I spend...ughh.

Houskeeping...Goal: To maintain a level of clean on a regular basis and keep things organized.

I'm getting into using coupons, learning how to re-think my housekeeping skills and wondering if I'll ever change my habits. My hubby and I worked hard on labor day to get our bedroom in some sort of order.  It is the last room that I ever touch.  We moved furniture around, cleaned the floors and removed items that were no longer worthy to belong in our bedroom (really just junk).  I woke up yesterday to a very clean bedroom.  Wow.  What a nice feeling to see everything in its place.  I'm keeping up with my housekeeping skills even though I've been working most days.  It makes me feel accomplished and not so overwhelmed by the end of the week.  Doing a little everyday is really working for me.  If you're interested in figuring out why you can never keep your house clean, I totally recommend the book by Mindy Starns Clark, "The House that Cleans Itself."

Blog...Goal: To continue to blog regularly about what I feel is happening On My Journey With Christ

I'm working on this blog thing...visiting some of my favorites and trying to figure out what I like, don't like, what to change, what I want the value in it to be.  However, I've run across some mighty fine blogs, check out a few that I'm following at the right of this post.

Mealplanning...Goal: To make a two-week plan of meals to make grocery shopping easier and in turn save money.

Tonight for dinner (since I'm on our meal planning kick) we had Lasagna Rolls (a favorite from Giada De Laurentis from the Food Network) with my spin on it.  They were awesome.  My kids actually ate spinach...but don't tell them shhhh.  I actually like cooking.  Having a meal plan seems to be working.  It's keeping me on track.

Well at least some of my good habits are starting to take hold...don't they say you have to do something for at least 16 days before it sticks....I'm getting close.

  1. Sherry!

Thanks for commenting this morning on my blog. I have thought of you many times since She Speaks and wondered why I didn't have a way to keep in touch! And there you are. :)

I love your post. Oh, the goals I have too!! I too am learning the coupon game -- I am now excited to see how much I can save. Life's a game, huh?

I can't wait to read where God is taking you and keep in touch.

    Take care sweet friend!
