The Summer in Review Part II

I told you it was a busy summer. The next big event after Krista's wedding was Global Youth Camp for five days in Georgia. We took 10 kids (4 adults) in two cars, a minivan and a cracker-jack box on a 10 hour journey to north Georgia. We were 2200+feet up overlooking the Appalachian mountains....I think they also call them the Smoky Mountains. It was beautiful. We stayed in rooms similar to a hotel but much older (like 40 years older) so it was a lot like camping indoors. I bunked with some awesome young ladies (Diane, Kelly, Lindsay, and Ashley). The food wasn't too bad. This was my second time to a Global Youth camp and this campus is housing some amazing activities. They are training college age youth to become Global mentors who till teach and train along side of local churches in Welsh (UK), Israel, China, Moldova and more. They do Global camps in these countries and are now able to make a dent and walk along side over 2 billion young people in the world who don't know Christ. 2 billion young people in the world. Our youth group grew so much in the 5 days we were there. Three people made decisions for Christ, others made commitments to living for Jesus despite their pasts.

As an adult leader we had some awesome classes with the campus director Roger. It was such a spiritual journey to watch these young people get on fire for Christ. I can't hardly put it into words. These young people are the next generation of believers. What are we doing to help prepare them for this world? I had the opportunity to pray with students who decided to accept the call to become missionaries while others experience real life change. It was amazing. These particular moments in time make me feel the Holy Spirit so close, it's as though I can almost reach out and touch the hem of Jesus. Do you remember in the book of Mark where the diseased woman knew that to be healed she just needed to touch Jesus' hem of his garment? It is a beautiful story.

Mark 5:28-3428 For she said, "If I touch even his garments, I will be made well." 29 And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.30 And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, "Who touched my garments?" 31And his disciples said to him, "You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, 'Who touched me?'" 32 And he looked around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease."

I was so privileged to attend this camp and see so many lives changed. I pray that our Youth Group, Revolution will take the fire they found on the mountain and reach other youth in the community for Jesus!

Here's our group on the mountain!

During worship time.

Well, that about sums up Summer for us. I can honestly say that there have been so many blessings poured out on our family this summer. God is so good and he teaches me something everyday. I know that ALL good things come from him.

2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
